Maternity Center
Helping expectant parents bring a new life into the world is something we're proud of at Carolinas Medical Center-University. Our Maternity Center staff provides personalized support and education throughout your pregnancy, delivery and recovery. We understand that the more new moms know the more comfortable they will be. And you'll be reassured to know that CMC-University also offers special perinatal and neonatal services for high-risk pregnancies and deliveries. Our obstetrics staff is supported by neonatology specialists and our Level III Neonatal Nursery is close by for newborns needing extra care. This type of specialized care is why more than 2,000 families choose our Maternity Center each year. After all, it's a place of new beginnings.

Emergency Department
As the second busiest Emergency Department in the county with over 65,000 patient visits per year, our ED includes 11 critical care rooms and 15 minor care rooms. Open 24 hours a day, the Emergency Department is staffed by board-certified and residency-trained emergency specialist physicians and is equipped to handle life-threatening and minor emergencies from diagnosis to treatment.

Cardiology Services
At CMC-University, specialists stabilize, diagnose and treat heart patients using the most advanced technology available. Using procedures such as diagnostic cardiac catherizations, echocardiograms (ECHO) and stress testing, to assess and examine a patient's condition, our physicians are able to formulate an optimal treatment plan. Plus, our specialists confer and work with experts in sub-specialty care including pediatric, interventional and transplant cardiology, as well as electrophysiology.

Surgery Department
The Surgery Department has six fully-equipped operating rooms for inpatient and outpatient surgery, and one room with dedicated equipment for cystoscopy and other urological procedures.
